THE DESIGN

As the legendary words of Ariana Grande unveil, “pink goes good with green,” these are also the words that Hotel La Gemma takes to heart. Pink and green are the lead actors in the enchanting design of La Gemma. The entire hotel is stylized in a blend of maximalist and Art Deco style with checkered black and white marble floors, hand-painted tropical wallpaper, and glimmering gold trim in every corner. There’s always a chic upholstered chair, in blush or emerald, to plop down on. Even the signature cocktail of La Gemma comes in a delicious shade of lime green.

THE ROOMS

The rooms are just as dreamy as the rest of the hotel, crafted in subtler tones and plenty of plush furniture for lounge and relaxation. Each room is a sanctuary of opulent and whimsical design. Arched suede headboards in signature pink and green hues upholstered before calming wallpaper painted with palms. The bathrooms boast a gorgeous seafoam green with gold towel racks and dark marble to provide a luxurious pop. The Votary toiletry amenities with a fresh rosemary scent and complimentary minibar are the cherry on top of the prettiest hotel room in Florence.

THE SPA

It’s likely that you’ll need a moment to rest and rejuvenate after a packed day of exploring exquisite museums, shops, restaurants, and wine bars that Florence has to offer. Thankfully, there’s Allure Spa at the hotel for retreat after a long day. It features an excellent menu of massages and face treatments, which guests can boost with luxurious add-ons like green caviar, Platysma, and Liftkiss masks by Biologique Recherche. The spa exclusively uses Biologique Recherche products and methodologies that meticulously incorporate biotechnology to customize treatments by targeting specific skin types and results.

THE RESTAURANT

Luca’s is Hotel La Gemma’s fine-dining restaurant headed by Michelin starred chef Paulo Airaudo. “Chef Paulo Airaudo takes classical Florentine cuisine and, in the same way the Cecchi family has updated Duomo colors, looked at it through a more modern lens.” Despite the label of fine dining, Luca maintains a sense of fun and lightheartedness by through a trendy space, via the option for a shorter four-course tasting menu if diners don’t prefer to sit through eight courses. The restaurant maintains La Gemma’s signature palette, with green and pink banquettes, along with palms set against bewitching sage walls.

The courses are fresh and creative, starting with fun bites like cones filled with mortadella and pistachio paté and salmon roe tarts on the side. Chef Airaudo isn’t afraid to mix in items like mackerel sashimi with kosho and tomato water. The current tasting menu includes a decadent pasta course of cappelletti stuffed with pigeon and monkfish with creamy beurre blanc. The dessert is also a creative mix of classic and new, such as a goat cheese flan with persimmon caramel – with a glass of local vinsanto to wash it down, of course.
