By putting the Sofitel brand’s philosophy of “joie de vivre” into practice on every level, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma offers a carefree, luxurious experience unlike any other in town.

THE DÉCOR

The entire property of Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is an architectural marvel. At the very front of the entrance, you’ll see the façade of a classic aristocratic French family home which is the only part of the original historic structure that’s been preserved. This classic house is now the location of the hotel’s excellent cocktail bar, Freehouse, which preserves the stately, historic charm of what the property originally was while slinging fabulous signature cocktails. Once you move onto the uber-sleek modern skyscraper where the actual hotel is located, every corner of each space in the tower is airy, contemporary and hyper-chic.

THE ROOMS

The rooms are designed in a futuristic mod style: think space-agey white wall panels, plush geometric carpet and minimalist yet uber-comfy midcentury modern furniture. If you’re feeling indulgent, go for the Junior Suite which is 452 sq ft of pure luxury. The suite is blissfully spacious with an open floor plan that seamlessly flows from the lounge to the bedroom to the bathroom. The rooms are outfitted to an inch of their lives with high-tech finishings that make every second dreamily convenient. From the built-in ceiling speakers in the bedroom and bathroom to the light sensors in the walk-in closet to the panoramic blinds that automatically go up when you enter the room. Everything is comfy, chic and convenient as hell.

THE VIEW

Guests can enjoy an iconic, unobstructed view of one of Mexico’s most famous monuments from many of the rooms that face the Angel of Independence. The rooms that don’t face the monument, still have glorious city views of Reforma and the endless skyline. The higher you go (the hotel has up to 50 floors), you’ll get ever more of a bird’s eye view of Mexico City’s sprawling metropolis spreading out to the horizon.

THE FOOD

The property is certainly well-equipped with a variety of top-quality food and beverage outlets. Balta is the hotel’s all-day restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner (and not to mention drinks) are served. At Balta, you can find upmarket Mexican dishes that are creative and fresh. You can get aguachile, ajillo shrimp or lamb chops smothered in mole sauce.

Bajel is the hotel’s high-concept fine dining restaurant which serves local seasonal products prepared with creative and meticulous elaboration in the artistic open kitchen. Think octopus with green mole and wild Mexican herbs, duck confit enchiladas with foie gras and spicy green ceviche with baby scallops, lychee and coconut. Also, don’t miss out on ordering the room service chilaquiles for breakfast some time because they’re to die for.
