Reborn as a modern world-class dining destination.

Get excited L.A.! The Valley’s most iconic restaurant is back with sparkling renovations and amazing new food and beverage offerings!

Castaway Burbank has been perched on top of the Verdugo Hills for decades, offering visitors a singular dining experience since 1962. For many years it enjoyed a fun, campy “Polynesian Tiki” theme, complete with dim lighting, bamboo ceiling fans and an extremely popular Sunday brunch buffet. As a unique dining venue with killer views of the Valley, Castaway has always been a beloved L.A. institution.

After a yearlong hiatus, Castaway Burbank just recently reopened after $10 million renovations of the entire venue. The new look of the expansive space is completely modern and elegant, bringing the former vintage restaurant into a new era. It boasts multiple sections including indoor dining room, chef’s table, wrap-around bar, wine cellar, dry-aging room, ballrooms, see-through kitchen and outside patio. The open floor plan effortlessly flows through the picture windows onto the patio, making the building feel like one airy, connected space. Everything about it feels polished while simultaneously being welcoming and accessible.

Although the popular Sunday brunch buffet is no longer happening, the expansive and revamped food and beverage program should get everyone excited. The menus are packed with innovative and sophisticated takes on fine dining classics. Top highlights come from Castaway’s very own dry aging room, proudly on display for all diners, where the delectable charcuterie meats and steaks are perfected. Don’t miss the chance to make your own charcuterie board as the dry aging room is stocked with exotic cured meats like Duck Prosciutto, Ventricini Salami, Bresaola (beef tenderloin) and Culatello di Zabello (rear leg of pig). And guest definitely shouldn’t leave without trying at least one of the expertly selected steaks on the menu. With two types of American Wagyu, two types of Black Angus and a pasture raised import from Tasmania, every steak tastes exquisitely marbled and tender.

The starters feature an eclectic selection of raw and cooked seafood, garnished with fresh, zesty flavors. The “Prologue” menu is comprised of crowd favorites like Hokkaido Scallops with tangerine granita and brown butter, Dungeness Crab Cakes, Peruvian Ceviche and Charred Octopus with squid ink emulsion. There’s also a raw bar which includes a show-stopping Imperial Seafood Platter featuring oysters, snow crab, ceviche, lobster, seared tuna and more. Main entrees or “Lead Performers” are comprised of Whole Roasted Branzino, Pasture Bird Chicken, Ora King Salmon and Wild Mushroom Parppardelle. Any item from the “Supporting Cast” is just as good as the leads, with sides like the deliciously rich and creamy Potato Puree and Broccolini with crispy garlic chips. On Saturdays and Sundays guests can come to Castaway for brunch with a view and lots of champagne options for mimosas.

The new and improved beverage menus are just as exciting as the food. Thanks to Master Sommelier Paul Coker, a huge wine cellar with over 150 bottles is present in the dining room, from which guests can leisurely choose a bottle to accompany their meal. Castaway hopes to become a popular bar destination, where guests will come often to enjoy “Tappy Hour” (featuring 10 beers, 8 wines and 4 cocktails on top) and creative craft cocktails without having to commit to a fine dining meal.

With gorgeous new renovations and unmatched view of Los Angeles, Castaway Burbank has been reborn as a modern world-class dining destination. The restaurant promises to deliver a creative and refined food and beverage experience regardless of any occasion. As a beautiful and timeless venue in the heart of the Valley, Castaway Burbank is a must-try for all local Angelenos and visitors alike.
