Enjoy A Flawless Seaside Getaway At InterContinental Cascais-Estoril Resort

At the picturesque train station of Monte Estoril, between Lisbon and Cascais, there’s a state-of-the-art resort which offers the idyllic seaside vacation you’ve been dreaming of. InterContinental Cascais-Estoril Resort is a sleek, contemporary retreat overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean, that will easily become your new favorite hotel.

InterContinental Cascais-Estoril Resort sits where the historic Hotel Atlantico used to be in Monte Estoril. In 2015, InterContinental took over and reconstructed it into an ultra-modern hotel property. Thus, the best part about InterContinental Cascais-Estoril is that everything from top to bottom is sparkling and new. From the high-tech elevators controlled by room keys to the chic vapor fireplace in the restaurant lounge, everything at this property is sleek and state-of-the-art. Wherever you look, there are views of the glassy blue ocean to accompany those modern hotel features, which is simply divine.

The rooms are understated and luxurious, as expected from any InterContinental property. However, the rooms at this particular InterContinental property do have an extra oomph. First of all, every single room faces out to the Atlantic, so you can rest assured that any room you book will have a stunning unobstructed ocean view. Also, every room comes with a spacious balcony or garden patio with a divan to enjoy that spectacular view. The palette of dark blue and grey hues creates a modern, futuristic ambience which still feels laidback and resort at the same time.

It’s hard for the hotel restaurant, Bago du Vin, not to be your favorite part of the hotel. The restaurant is the centerpiece of the property, where floor-to-ceiling glass windows display a panoramic view of Cascais Bay and the romantic train tracks of Monte Estoril station. The décor of the restaurant remains overwhelmingly minimalist to elevate the surroundings to the fullest. It’s where you can drink in limitless views of that sweet blue ocean from sunrise to sundown, and watch the yellow train coming and going down the tracks. Lucky for guests, the restaurant is where you get to start the day over breakfast. Bago du Vin serves the freshest continental breakfast buffet around with top-quality national cheeses, cold cuts and pastries.

Bago du Vin’s main menu offers elaborate yet familiar upmarket dishes that you would expect from a high-end oceanfront restaurant. Examples include the beautifully prepared fried shrimp bathed in a delicate citrus curry sauce or the restaurant’s version of Bacalhau a Bras which is deconstructed with a soft egg in the center. There are lighter, more casual options on the gourmet bar menu, such as the traditional veal steak sandwich, Portuguese croquettes and excellent cheese and charcuterie.

Guests shouldn’t depart the hotel without experiencing SPA InterContinental by L’Occitane at least once during their stay. There’s a wide range of face and body treatments which utilize fabulous L’Occitane products by the talented massage therapists on staff. The indoor pool inside the spa is a gorgeous Zen space with soothing earth tones and extremely comfortable luxe recliners to lounge on. This is also where you’ll find the steam room and sauna which can be used without doing a spa treatment.

Monte-Estoril is just one train stop before Cascais. The hotel is located literally steps away from Monte-Estoril train station, which means you can easily take the train in from Lisbon. A scenic 15-minute walk will get you to the town center of Cascais from the resort. Even though Cascais is so close, the location of InterContinental Cascais-Estoril Resort is much quieter without the gaggles of tourists flocking to Cascais. Which is a huge relief when you come back to the hotel to rest at the end of the day.

There’s a boardwalk on the water which guests can walk to right below the hotel. From there, guests can easily walk to the many beaches in Estoril to the left, or to the beaches in Cascais to the right. The beaches closest to the hotel include Praia da Rata, Praia da Duquesa and Praia do Tamariz, all of which have soft sand, glittering waves and local beachgoers having a good time.

With spectacular ocean views from every corner, sleek hotel facilities and fabulous beachfront location, InterContinental Cascais-Estoril Resort has it all. Check into this world-class resort for the amazing seaside vacation of your dreams!
