Say Ciao To A Funky Cool Time At Mama Roma

We love Mama Shelter hotels that nail funky, fresh design every time. And with the Italian rendition of the fun-loving brand, Mama Roma just might be the coolest Mama Shelter property to date!

Mama Roma sweeps you into a whirlwind of quirky Italian-themed design from the moment you step into the hotel. Mama Roma does as the Romans do, which is to take maximalist design over the top to create a crazy-cool, intriguing haven. There are details that delight at every turn: oversized marble busts painted on the walls, palm-shaped chandeliers and pizzas on the carpets. Not to mention the famous Italian football player cards covering the elevator, which is seriously our new favorite wallpaper. The design is always fresh in any Mama Shelter property, but guests are in for a real treat with a stay at Mama Roma!

THE ROOMS

The rooms come in Medium, Large and XL categories at the hotel. The Large rooms are the ideal size for two people who enjoy having space to fan out and walk around. The ample space loops around the bed, to the couch, around the working desk and out to the highly functional closet and storage unit which you can share. The XL rooms can accommodate up to four people comfortably and are fun for the whole family.

Mama Roma’s rooms are outfitted with bold textiles on the floor, on the couch and on the cushions. We adore the bright bathrooms that are painted yellow against sparkling white tile. With the arch-shaped high-tech mirror that lights up luminously, the bathrooms provide a pop of mid-century modern that’s hard not to love.

The TVs come with free movies which you can stream (including X-rated ones which the hotel loves to flaunt), which is a nice touch. All the bath amenities are organic, with the dopest natural soap bar that’s amazing for exfoliating your skin. Just as a little extra something-something, Mama Roma places fun Batman masks or gladiator helmets in all the rooms, in case you’re in the mood for some playful roleplaying with your bunkmate(s).

FOOD & DRINKS

Being in the capital of the most foodie country in the world, Mama Roma does not skimp on amazing dining offers to enjoy on property. The main restaurant inside the hotel is Giardino d’Inverno or d’Estate (Winter or Summer Garden) depending on the season. The expansive safe is a groovy, tropical-inspired hotspot filled with blooming bamboo light fixtures, fruity wall curtains and lush greenery hanging from the ceiling. There’s a cute stage in the middle of it all where you can catch live music on select days.

The menu at Giardino d’Inverno goes in hard on all the modern Italian dishes you’ll ever want to eat. You can start off with any of their fantastic appetizers such as the chicory salad with grilled squid and stracciatella cheese, celeriac and black truffle soup or seared tuna with pear, Mangalizia lard and hazelnuts. Then, good luck choosing which pasta to order when you have options like fresh taglioni with Norcia black truffle, gnocchi cacio e pepe with seafood and tagliatelle with shrimp burrata and saffron. And for main courses you can dig into mouthwatering dishes like grilled octopus with vanilla cauliflower cream and pecans, roasted salsiccia with black truffle potato puree and milanese-style veal cutlets.

If the main restaurant isn’t tempting enough, there’s also a pizzeria next to it calling your name with even more gourmet temptations. You can get classic pizzas like a Margherita or a Napoli. Or you can grab any of Mama’s fun creations like the Kratos with n’duja, salami and ricotta or the Zuccona with guanciale and pumpkin cream. The Pizzeria is deliciously decked out in over-the-top décor as well, with dramatically hand-painted al fresco ceilings with cherubs and opulent marble wall panels. There are also DJ sets and parties at the Pizzeria on weekends.
