Hotel Finca Fuente Techada offers the perfect farmhouse-chic aesthetic that urbanites are looking for on a rustic getaway. Earthy neutral tones and natural wood are ever-present throughout the entire property, as are bold, colorful paintings in every room (some of which are painted by Cristina herself.) Much of the furniture came from Alejandro and Cristina’s previous respective homes, which goes to show that the pair have always possessed good taste.

One of the most unique characteristics of the house is that many of the doors, columns, and cabinets are made of repurposed wood, which Alejandro salvaged from demolished buildings in Madrid. There are windows from a 19th-century maternity hospital, shutters from an old building in Salamanca, and the front door is made of wood collected from a building that used to stand in Puerta del Sol. The circular, sustainable features made of recycled materials further add storied elements to this unique, personable property.

The rooms are rustic chic and minimalist in design, with plush armchairs and incredibly comfortable beds in every room. All the bathrooms are extremely spacious with large walk-in showers that are custom-tiled. If you’re lucky, your room might come with a private terrace (or even two) made for lounging and soaking in the serene views of the mountains and pastures surrounding the estate.

There are plenty of communal spaces to pass time in at the property, each of them just as cozy and beautifully decorated as the next. There are two solariums, one in the center of the house by the entrance and the larger annex in the back. The glass annex is a gorgeous space where you can enjoy the lush green fields surrounding the house without going outside.

There’s also the delightfully cozy library where you can curl up in front of the fireplace in the winter, and where you’ll also find the minibar stocked with refreshments and booze to self-serve. And of course, there’s plenty of space to walk around and immerse yourself outdoors. The 11-hectare property is well-kept with lush orchards to stroll through, in addition to a swimming pool for lounging by in the summer.

There’s no restaurant on property. There is, however, a lovely breakfast of bread, croissant, cheese, and jamón served to guests every morning. Guests can also order cold cuts and cheeses throughout the day if they get hungry.

The hotel is accessible by car, guests will also need one to explore the surrounding area. Since it’s located next to a tiny village named Sotosalbos, from there it’s easy to explore all the scenic attractions that the province has to offer. The main city of Segovia is merely 25 km away, making it easy to pop over for sightseeing or to access the plentiful restaurants and bars that the city has to offer.

La Granja de San Ildefonso, where the stunning 18th-century palace and gardens are located, is also just 25 km away from the hotel. Slightly further but easily accessible sights also include the well-preserved medieval town of Pedraza and the breathtaking mountain town of Sepúlveda, inside Hoces del Duratón National Park.
