Why Ameron Zurich Bellerive Au Lac Is Your Urban Getaway

Just months after its official opening this spring, Ameron Zurich Bellerive au Lac is already the hippest design hotel in town. With an idyllic location at the banks of Lake Zurich and tons of swish design and amenities in store, Ameron Zurich is the only lifestyle destination in Zurich for a stylish urban getaway.

Ameron Zurich opened in May 2021 after an exciting facelift. The historic building with the buttercream façade which houses the hotel was built in 1928. It was constructed in the glamorous Art Deco style, which has been revived with bold colors through the renovation. The building has been operating as a hotel since 1932. Ameron took over the building to create a swanky new boutique hotel with the young, modern jet set crowd in mind.

The design at Ameron Zurich is elegant and upscale, while the interiors still glitter and pop. In the lobby lounge, funky tropicalism seamlessly blends with the original green marble and black and white checkered floors. Giant Japanese silk screens of cranes with matching leather ottomans bring the dining lounge to life. From the restaurant to cigar lounge, luxurious upholstered chairs and booths constantly invite you to sit back and have a good time.

The rooms are done up in the same sleek, colorful style as the rest of the hotel. Modern abstract art pieces hang tastefully on periwinkle walls. Sumptuous chaise lounges upholstered in royal blue pop against carpets with bold modernist prints. The bathrooms are also uber-modern with bright LED lighting, mirrors on mirrors and fabulous rain showers.

The best part about the rooms is that each one is spacious; even the basic room categories start at 25 – 30 square meters. Even the smallest comfort rooms have a space to lounge and a working desk set up. The Premium rooms all come with a private balcony with an unobstructed view of the lake. The Premium rooms offer the best value for price, as the rooms are very spacious for two people and include a full-sized chaise lounge. The suites have even larger lounge spaces with a dining room set up. Both the Junior and Tower suites offer panoramic views of the city or the lake. And in the Tower Suite, guests can enjoy private access to the rooftop and luxurious sunbeds.

Studio Bellerive is the hotel’s glamorous in-house restaurant and a nod to Zurich’s very own classic film studio. The restaurant’s interior is an Art Deco dream, made up of golden arches, palm fronds and plush upholstered booths. The menu has a contemporary international offering, with a focus on the grill and sustainable products. The options are eclectic: from Swiss beef tartar to pork belly with miso cream to vegetarian ravioli with artichokes and poached eggs. Order the pork chop with beer-cherry marinade, and Studio Bellerive will put forth the most perfect, tender pork chop you’ll ever have in your life. Anything off the grill, whether it’s the short ribs, lamb chops or angus entrecote, is going to be cooked to perfection and made of top-quality ingredients.

The bar at Studio Bellerive is a sexy place to hang out all on its own. The curving gold bar is chic and intimate: the perfect place to kick off the evening or order a nightcap. It’s all about the classics at this bar: negronis, old-fashioneds, kir royals, mint juleps and Hemingway specials make up the short but sweet cocktail menu.

The location really doesn’t get better than right on Lake Zurich. Ameron Zurich sits pretty in the most beautiful part of the city. The hotel is a stone’s throw away from the Opera House and bustling Sechselautenplatz. It’s easily accessible from the airport by train to Stadelhofen station. Everything is within walking distance from Ameron Zurich. Of course, you can reach the lake from the hotel in a matter of seconds and enjoy the boardwalk, parks and cafes next to the water. A fifteen-minute walk down the wide boulevard on Utoquai takes you straight to the most picturesque part of the city center.
