Team JST the pleasure of attending this year’s L.A. Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California last month!
As the largest literary festival of its kind in the country, the Festival of Books aims to “bring together the people who create books with the people who love to read them.” For two awesome days, we got to hit up USC’s campus to shop through books by independent publishers and booksellers, see talks and panels by famous authors and learn all about the publishing industry.
Each year, the Los Angeles Times puts together an impressive lineup of authors from all genres and walks of life, many of them being popular celebs. This year definitely did not disappoint with talks by Pulitzer Prize winners, Junot Diaz and Viet Than Nguyen, renowned authors such as Joyce Carol Oates and Laurie Halse Anderson, as well as Hollywood darlings like Vivica A. Fox, Jenna Fisher and Gabrielle Union. Every talk we attended was moving and inspirational as writers attested to the power of writing in order to tell our stories and help others find who they are.
Watch the video for moments and quotes from our favorite talks by Vivica A. Fox, Gabrielle Union and Junot Diaz. And if you’re a bookworm who loves to read, write and share your passion for words, don’t miss the chance to nerd out with us at the L.A. Times Festival of Books next year!
