Entering the gates of The Lodge is like crossing into an idyllic, pastoral dream. Wispy lavender fields rustle in the breeze as you drive up the tree-lined pathway. Then, olive and fruit trees spread out across the expansive estate as far as the eye can see in every direction. Slowly, the rustic stone facade of the main building comes into view, perched high above the orchards. Turn around, you can see the entire town of Sa Pobla with the lush green fields stretching along the highway and into the mountains.

THE STORY

The Lodge opened in 2023 to offer travelers a more rustic, slow-living type of hotel experience in Mallorca. The Lodge is an ideal place to fully disconnect from everyday life and immerse oneself in lush natural surroundings. The disparate sections of the resort are spread throughout the 157-hectare estate, thus spending time outside is a significant part of the experience when staying at The Lodge. Guests have endless opportunities to breathe in the idyllic nature anytime they walk from the room to reception, the pool, spa, gym, or restaurant.

THE DESIGN

The hotel’s design emanates earthy serenity both inside and out. The rooms are housed in tan rectangular Pueblo-style structures that effortlessly blend into the surrounding nature. Only five to ten rooms are located in the same structure at a time, the clusters of rooms are spread out throughout the property to maintain a sense of privacy and space.

THE AMENITIES

The Lodge provides plenty of activities that encourage guests to discover the expansive estate. The main infinity pool looks out to Sa Pobla and beyond, while there’s a smaller heated pool hidden behind the guest rooms deeper into the estate.

The gym is completely outside so that guests can work out with state-of-the-art equipment in the fresh air. There’s a small outdoor sauna, as well as a spa for those who wish to book treatments during their stay. Best of all, there are various walking routes within the estate that guests can take advantage of to explore the surrounding mountains, forest, and valley.

THE RESTAURANT

Singular is the hotel’s gorgeous farm-to-table restaurant and one of the best places on the island to taste local Mallorcan cuisine. Singular brings to life the idealized Mediterranean dining room with wooden tables, straw placemats, and earthenware ceramics. The restaurant serves wine and olive oil that’s produced at the hotel’s sister property in Mallorca, Finca Serena.

The menu is rich with local products and recipes like Mallorcan coca, or flatbread, with tomato tumbet and sardines; porcella mallorquina, or suckling pig fritters; and, of course, sobrasada on bread with chili, anchovy, and olives. The seafood is excellent and flavorful, with top-notch sea bass, line-caught squid, and turbot. You can also order generous rice dishes made in a paella-style pan with black truffle and sirloin or red prawns from Soller.

The kitchen also puts on a stellar breakfast program that leans towards healthy, artisanal options. The breakfast buffet keeps it simple with locally produced cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, honey, and Mallorcan delicacies like empanadas mallorquinas and ensaimada.

Overall, it’s not as heavy on carbs as many other breakfast buffets, though there is an excellent selection of artisanal bread available. The restaurant provides a menu of breakfast plates to pick from if you want items like avocado or salmon toast or eggs and bacon. Every morning you get to live the dream of enjoying a wholesome breakfast while looking at peaceful pastoral views.
