Perfecting Your Summer Bod (Yes, While Traveling!)

It’s officially summer. Yup, that means bikinis, trunks, and more fun in the sun.

While you may have plans to tour the Louvre or shop in Hong Kong this summer, don’t let travel stop you from maintaining that rockin’ figure. Below are some holy grail moves that you can do anywhere from your hotel room to the nearest city park to balance out those extravagant travel indulgences.

Sit-ups

Summer is bikini and tummy showing season, so keep those abs tight with the infallible sit-up. The trusty ab workout is easy to modify and change up, not to mention you can do them no matter where you are. Put in the work on your hotel room floor, the beach, or nearby park. No shame.

Reverse Crunch

That pesky lower stomach area is harder to get rid of, thanks to the beer and delicious travel delicacies that love to settle there. Counteract the tummy fat with reverse crunches, which are crunches that start with your legs. Lift them up in the air together toward the sky above you. Why not get in some crunches while gazing up at the stars in Ibiza?

Plank

A great move for many parts, planks are one of the best core exercises out there. At the beach? Why not pop into a few planks for a few minutes every now and then? Tan your back under the hot sun while sculpting those abs. Or start a photo series by planking at every new destination and landmark you’re in, if that’s your style, of course.

Squats

There’s nothing like a firm and healthy behind, and there’s no better way to get it then with the good ol’ squat. Standing in a long line to a museum? Stuck on a ridiculously slow metro? Start squatting. No judgment. All booty.

Chair Dip

Arms don’t tone themselves. Wave those jiggles goodbye by doing the dip. You can do it anywhere, from a chair to an old ledge.

While you’re on vacation, the last thing you want to do is limit yourself and worry about calories. Instead of denying yourself of the amazing foods you’ll come across, I say indulge. But always remember the balance.  Enjoying yourself and keeping your body in great shape can very much co-exist. Why not have your cake, and eat it too? Just don’t forget the squats.
