There’s no better way to experience New York City than chilling at a rooftop bar with a great view and a cocktail in hand. With so many amazing choices, it’s hard to figure out which are worth the hype. We’ve narrowed it down to four we think should be on everyone’s must-visit list.

1. Ophelia

3 Mitchell Pl 26th floor, New York, NY 10017

If you’re looking for a 1920’s speakeasy vibe, look no further than Ophelia. Located atop the historic Beekman Tower, the vintage atmosphere is only upstaged by the gorgeous views of the East River and Manhattan skyline. Channel your inner Frank Sinatra while you sip on reasonably priced, yet creative cocktails and admire the history of the beautiful space.

2. Magic Hour

485 7th Ave 18th floor, New York, NY 10018

Magic Hour resembles more of a cross between a carnival and a playground than a bar. You’ll find a topiary garden, mini golf, and even some moving carousel-type seating. Even the food and drinks are fun, with cocktails served in giant disco balls, and ice cream sandwiches bigger than the size of your head. Unsurprisingly the place fills up pretty quickly so if you’re serious about the experience get there early.

3. Refinery Rooftop

63 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018

Refinery Rooftop is all exposed brick and twinkling fairy lights, making it one of the most ‘gramable rooftops on this list. It also helps that you have the Empire State Building towering above you. Unlike a lot of rooftop bars, this one has a retractable glass roof so you can even enjoy a cocktail here on a rainy (or even snowy) day. A must try is their mango-basil margarita.

4. Mr. Purple

180 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002

We saved the best for last, as Mr. Purple is THE rooftop to be on. Located on top of Hotel Indigo, you’ll find 360-degree views of Manhattan and vibes that perfectly encapsulate the Lower East Side locale. You gotta try their signature drink, the Mr. Purple, which includes Casamigos tequila (aka George Clooney’s brand), cranberry liqueur, allspice dram, apple, and lemon. If you’re more of a wine person, try sipping their frosé while taking a dip in the pool.
