Harry’s New York Bar is just one of those places: always welcoming the perfect mix of locals and travelers. Part of the fun is for patrons to look for their university’s mini pennant flag. Apparently, these are donations from frequent guests. For the University of California, Berkeley. There’s not just one, but two flags. Go Bears!
Harry’s New York Bar is located in the second arrondissement in Paris, tucked in an unassuming alley between Rue de la Paix and Avenue de l’Opéra. Originally created by jockey Tod Sloan in 1911, he desired for the bar to be a hub where American expats in Paris would feel at home. The bar’s popularity grew during World War I, particularly among members of the American Field Service Ambulance Corps.
