You Can’t Leave Panama City Without Trying These 5 Restaurants

BY KEVIN O’BRIEN, Founder of Barefoot Panama (Panama City, Panama)

Panama City’s culinary scene is on the rise. Thanks to its geographic location as the bridge between Central to South America, Panama welcomes an abundance of travelers particularly during winter season where the local weather is warm but kind while rainstorms aren’t as spontaneous as they would be during spring or summer.

Travelers may often find themselves sipping on a glass of good wine at a modern and sophisticated restaurant opened by groups such as Henesy-Rodriguez who has introduced the idea of “farm-to-table” to Panama City’s growing food scene. Although, what may further intrigue most travelers are local eats. For this, we had to ask the man who doesn’t merely know all, but knows Panama well.

As the founder of Barefoot Panama – a leading tour company in Panama – Kevin O’Brien has made the country his home. A native Bostonian, O’Brien fell in love with Panama City in a way that you may too, by the kindness of locals and the potential of possibilities in a land boasting unscathed nature swooning travelers who often arrive from the U.S. When it came to top 5 restaurants in Panama City, we had to get his take. We’re pretty sure you’ll find his list deliciously awesome too.
