Jaimal is a beautiful writer, and we share another common ground: our belief in Buddhism.

It was at his party, many years ago (sometime between 2005-2006.) Since the first time I met Jaimal, I was inspired by his spirit: kind, charismatic, generous and abundantly intellectual. Years ago, I didn’t know that one day, I would be sitting across from him with a recorder, learning about his life. The experience was with great pleasure.
We’re both the same age, yet he continues to carry an inkling of innocence that effortlessly shines through his words. Perfectly fitting, during our interview, he said to me, “Honestly, I think the reason why we travel is because, there’s an innocence of childhood where everything is new and we’re learning everything. For example, I’ve never been to Tokyo, and I’m sure when I go, I’ll be like a little kid, experimenting with food and everything that stimulates curiosity.” I couldn’t agree more, it’s also the same reason why I’ve become an avid traveler.

Jaimal is a beautiful writer, and we share another common ground: our belief in Buddhism – a deep sense of gratitude for the comprehension of zen and meditation. Though I should, but I don’t meditate. Through my conversation with Jaimal, I got a glimpse into his early life as a teenage rebel, an unexpected introduction to Buddhism in France, and his journey as a successful author. But through it all, I love that he is an impressive surfer who continues to inspire those around him. Hearing his travels throughout the world, I am enthralled to discover how similar we are in regards to the way we view philosophy and life. Above all, I am now evermore proud to say that he is, indeed, my friend.
Happy travels,
