5 Best Restaurants In Barcelona, According To Spanish DJ Heren

Music producer DJ Heren shows us his favorite spots that give him inspiration!

I am HEREN, and I am a DJ and producer from Barcelona. I started producing music at the age of fourteen and my city has always been a great source of inspiration to me. The weather, the sea, the people and the food are so nice I think it’s something that is transmitted in my music. I am a positive person, and I always like to look at the bright side of things. I’m sure living here makes it a lot easier. Traveling is also one of my passions. I feel lucky to be able to visit so many different places when touring. Meeting new people and cultures is always inspiring. This is why my forthcoming single One Life has some ethnical elements to it as well.

1. Bar Tomás de Sarrià

You may well have heard of tapas – small dishes of various types of food served in restaurants across Spain – which is a big part of our Spanish culture. One common dish is patatas brava, which translates to “angry potatoes” as it’s quite spicy. What many people don’t know though is that the real ones are not topped with mayonnaise but with alli oli, which has a similar texture but is made of garlic. And at Bar Tomás de Sarrià, they serve the best ones! Trust me, no local would ever argue that!

2. Ikastola

Ikastola is a small bar where my friends and I would hang out a lot. They serve the best sandwiches in the Gracia neighborhood. I could spend hours in here with my friends, just for the atmosphere; they have an old piano, which is really cool, too. But the main reason to come here is for their sandwiches. It’s simply the best sandwich you’ll ever try and an absolute must-try!

3. Dos Palillos

Carrer d’Elisabets, 9, 08001 Barcelona, Spain (map, website)

For something a little different but still on the high end of the culinary spectrum, visit Dos Palillos. This is one of the best Asian fusion restaurants in the city and has a Michelin Star to prove it! With so many cuisine options available on the menu at great prices, I highly recommended making a reservation way in advance.

4. Bacoa Kiosko

Av. del Marquès de l’Argentera, 1, 08003 Barcelona (map, website)

In Borne you’ll find one of the best burger joints Barcelona has to offer, called Bacoa Kiosko. The burgers here are insane! They’ve become so popular now that they opened many other locations around the city but this one is the original and the one you must visit!

5. Paradiso

Carrer de Rera Palau, 4, 08003 Barcelona, Spain (map, website)

Paradiso is a super secret restaurant in the heart of Borne – you have to go through a fridge door to access the inside of the restaurant! The restaurant is famous for its homemade pastrami sandwiches and original cocktails, which you must try when here!
