Vivenda Miranda: For A Healing & Holistic Stay In The Algarve

Vivenda Miranda Boutique Hotel is a stunning gem, overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean in the southern coast of Portugal.

As you drive up to the gates of Vivenda Miranda, a colorful villa, you get a sense that you are leaving the real world and entering an extraordinary and tranquil space. Once you enter those gates, your sole purpose is to relax and treat yourself to a healing and rewarding getaway.

Vivenda Miranda Boutique Hotel is a stunning gem in Lagos, overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean in the southern coast of Portugal. If you’re looking for a hotel right on the beach in Lagos there’s no better location than Vivenda Miranda, from which it’s only a 10 minute walk down to Praia Porto do Mós, and a 15 minute walk to Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo.

Dörte Ahlgrimm, the head of Communications and Marketing, was kind enough to share with us the story and background of Vivenda Miranda.

The first construction dates back to the 17th century, it used to be an aristocratic family that was English. They used to live here and of course there’s been construction again and again, then took over. He had to change some things but he wanted to keep it as it is because as you can see, it’s very Portuguese, the architecture, with also a little bit of Moorish influences… Since then it’s been 25 years .

The hotel is located about a half an hour walk away from the main town of Lagos, tucked away on a cliff between Praia Porto do Mós and Ponta da Piedade. This classy hotel functions like a resort in some ways as you can sleep, eat and relax in the villa and get all your needs taken care of, while the town center is just a short taxi ride away if you want it.

At Vivenda Miranda you’ll find contemporary design rooms, gourmet restaurant, organic spa, swimming pool, Jacuzzi as well as outdoor fitness and wellness classes. The hotel puts emphasis on nurturing a healthy, natural lifestyle and wants guests to feel rejuvenated in the mind and body during their stay.

That’s actually our approach of this hotel. This holistic, healing approach…You need peace of mind and you need to relax and this is the approach of Vivenda Miranda.

Each of the hotel’s 25 rooms are uniquely designed and has its own color scheme and feel: from bold, snazzy red stripes, to cool and calming turquoise florals and everything in between. Christine, the hotel’s interior designer who is responsible for all the magic, personally scavenges and selects pieces from secondhand markets and stores to make sure that every room in the hotel feels intimate and one-of-a-kind. Almost every room is accompanied by a breathtaking view of the ocean that makes you feel giddy to wake up to and a backdoor that leads to a patio and the lawn. With tables and lounge chairs overlooking the sea, the lawn is perfect for having coffee, reading and daydreaming. One can feel nothing but absolute peace and calm when looking out at the vivid azure ocean which blissfully greets you wherever you go in the villa.

The hotel’s in house restaurant, Mirandus, serves fine Mediterranean dining with a special effort to provide healthy vegetarian options as part of Vivenda Miranda’s holistic offering. The 3 or 5 course degustation menu changes daily, with delicious and creative entrée options alongside classic fine dining options such as Iberian pork cheek, tiger prawns and sirloin steaks.

We say it’s Mediterranean light cuisine. It’s very important for us that we source our ingredients locally and seasonally, and as much as possible biologically.

Breakfast is a lovely affair every morning, as the breakfast buffet is stocked with the freshest fruits, vegetables, cheese, nuts, cured meats, dairy and bread. Vegans can nourish themselves with super healthy vegan and raw options at the start of the day. With a sweeping view of the Algarvian Ocean from the restaurant, one can enjoy an enchanting meal inside or outside on the beautiful terrace for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For those who want to treat themselves to an indulgent and revitalizing spa treatment as part of their Vivenda Miranda experience, the spa menu has a wide range of deep cleanses, massages, face lifts and more. The spa exclusively uses organic health and beauty products from Neal’s Yard Remedies, based in London, a company that prides itself on using only all-natural ingredients, not testing products on animals and fair-trade. In addition to the spa, there’s a sauna, steam room, foot spa, heated outdoor pool and a Rasoul (click here for spa reservations)

Vivenda Miranda is also the perfect venue for an intimate wedding set against a breathtaking view over the ocean. It’s seriously difficult imagining a more scenic wedding than one in the Algarve that takes place in a colorful garden on a cliff overlooking the bright, blue ocean. With 25 rooms and suites, the property can accommodate up to 52 people and provides wedding planning services and support. Rentals of the entire property are also available for business events, retreats and personal get-togethers.

Check out the various retreats and packages for yoga, nutrition, meditation and other wellness activities that take place at Vivenda Miranda throughout the year, such as the Raw Food Vitality Week coming up this fall. Complimentary yoga and qigong classes that take place outdoors in the garden are also offered to guests daily.

With breathtaking ocean views, exceptionally designed rooms and an endless array of healthy, holistic offerings, Vivenda Miranda promises guests a superbly blissful and healing getaway.

You arrive from wherever you are, from kind of life you have. I think it takes you 2-3 minutes and you have the feeling like reality has closed off. After 5 minutes you just stand here and you can’t imagine that there’s still something like routine… it’s a peace of mind that you just arrive and you forget about what’s happening outside. Either with our holistic offering such as yoga, qigong, or just with the location and our garden, the proximity to the beach, the view, and I think this is the key point of Vivenda Miranda.
