I am convinced that these activities will keep you up and moving while embracing all the culture you can handle.

I wrote in a previous article that travelers can easily do without workout equipment, in as small of a space as a hotel room. However, the traditional gym workouts of structured moves and numbered repetitions are not for everyone. As travelers, we know that finding time to workout is difficult when exploring a new country. Between searching out culinary hotspots, checking out the sights, and finding that perfect memento, taking an hour or so out of the day to flex your muscles can be difficult. It may surprise you, but traveling itself is more active than you can imagine! I am convinced that these activities will keep you up and moving while embracing all the culture you can handle.
1. Flamenco In Spain

This passionate dance embodies the Spanish culture. Get your booty on the dance floor, learn sexy moves, and find your Rico Suave.
2. Urban Hiking
Not everyone has that itch to climb Half Dome. If your idea of hiking involves a guiding yourself through a new city, taking it apart block by block, then “urban hiking” is the way to go. New York and London are my favorite cities for this version of “hiking”.
3. Get Your Scuba on in Australia

A visit Down Under is not complete without a trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Keep an eye out for Nemo while toning up your legs kicking your way through the ocean.
4. Shop ‘Til You Drop
Shopping as a workout? I love this excuse. Find a street market or the closest fashion district to walk for hours to find that perfect gift for a friend. Tone those legs and get the perfect “something” you’ve been looking for.
5. River Rafting in Costa Rica

Signing up for an adventurous daytrip results in more than just trekking through the wilderness and spotting exotic animals. Your sore muscles will come as a pleasant surprise!
6. Winery Tour in France
Stretch those legs with a glass of vino in hand. Can you think of a better afternoon than cruising through a French winery while sipping a glass of your favorite? It’s definitely time well spent.
7. Surfs Up
From Hawaii to Portugal, many cultures value surfing as a sport and lifestyle. Sing up and shape up! Immerse yourself in this laid-back environment. Learning from some eye candy wouldn’t hurt either.
