Therefore, for Jetset’s cultural series on Palestine we would like to make Palestinian history and culture a part of your everyday. Malak Mattar Artist
Malak Mattar is an incredibly talented Palestinian artist who portrays the beauty and struggle that women and children in Palestine face on a daily basis. Her work consists of mostly female portraiture and effectively displays the graceful and powerful women of Palestine. In each of her Instagram captions, you can learn more about the story behind her work, which usually relates to shedding light on atrocities occurring in Palestine. If you would like to see her work in person, it is on display at the Palestine US museum in Woodbridge, Connecticut. Mattar’s original work is also for sale on her Etsy page.
Hidden Palestine is a stunning account that documents one of a kind moments and views of Palestine. Much of its content looks at architecture, nature, city life and overall, the beauty of the land. While it might seem like a normal account with a simple concept of posting beautiful pictures, its existence is resistance. Hidden Palestine attempts to combat the negative media portrayal of Palestine as a complete war zone or extremist area, and instead shows the opposite. This account is what the media won’t show you about Palestine: a gorgeous land, and resilient people.
Jewish Voices for Peace
Jewish Voices for Peace is a must-follow because it has become such an important worldwide Palestinian rights activist group. According to their website’s mission statement, JVP wants to see an end to Israeli occupation, believes in the right to return for Palestinians, fighting for dignity and justice for all. This group is incredible because there are chapters nearly anywhere and they are deeply action-based. If you are a university student, join your local chapter or check here to see if there is a group near you. The first step is definitely to follow their instagram and the next is to be a part of collective action and change!
Within Our Lifetime Palestine, is a Palestinian-led advocacy group based in Brooklyn, New York committed to freeing Palestine and lifting oppression off of all of its people. Their points of unity are:

- Right to Return
- Right to Resist
If you are looking for collective action events and are in the New York City area, this account provides all the information you need to know. Even if you aren’t in the NYC area, you can still learn from this account about their mission, beliefs and why it is crucial to the future of Palestine and its people.
This Instagram project’s goal is to share stories from Palestine’s expansive and diverse history, from “exile to return.” Documenting Palestine’s old photographs are hidden gems that show their followers so much about the experience of Palestinian people. There are photos from everyday scenes such as children fetching water. To more dramatic events, including: the ruins of the Tal al-Zaatar refugee camp massacre. For all of the history and photography nerds out there, this is the Instagram account for you.
Shirein Creates took over the online art world ever since the uprisings in Minneapolis. Shirein’s vibrant and stunning portraits shed light on injustices happening all across the globe. Originally from Palestine, Shirein now resides in Chicago and as a part of the Palestinian diaspora she understands the importance of solidarity across all struggles for justice. From portraits of the late Breonna Taylor in Kentucky, to Ahmed Erakat of Bethlehem; Shirein’s art memorializes yet celebrates these innocent lives lost by filling her work with beauty, flowers and bright colors.
