It might not be possible to run to the corner store for something you forgot to pack.

Vacationing on an isolated island can be exciting and extremely relaxing, especially when Bora Bora is your destination. Yet taking this type of trip can also make it difficult to know what to pack. Once you are on the island, it might not be possible to run to the corner store to pick up something you forgot to pack. Here are five essential items every traveler should pack when on holiday on Bora Bora!

1. Bring Your Favorite Beachwear

The island of Bora Bora is known for its expansive beaches and year-round sunshine. You will probably wear more swimsuits than any other type of attire. Make sure to bring a swim coverup for running in and out of shops and restaurants. With warmer temperatures and a variety of beach activities, you will also want a comfortable pair of flip-flops or sandals. Avoid bringing heels, as sandals tend to be more comfortable on the island terrain. Finally, throw in a floppy hat or two to protect your face from the sun.

2. Lather Up With Strong Sunscreen

You will also want to avoid severe sunburn on your first day of vacation by bringing plenty of sunscreen. Waterproof sunscreen will keep you protected as you jump in and out of the warm water. Opt for a higher sun protection factor (SPF) and bring a small bottle of aloe in case you misjudge the island sun’s strength. Don’t forget to shield your lips from the sun with a protective lip balm. Because the island is close to the equator, you have to be more careful about sun protection.

 3. Wear Appropriate Clothing

Of course, your suitcase should include clothing, too. Because you’ll spend the majority of the time on the beach, you can fill your bag with shorts, summer dresses and tank tops. However, if you plan to visit between the months of June and August, bring a jacket or sweatshirt for chillier nights. Also, consider which activities you plan to join. Tahiti has many wonderful sights, and you’ll need hiking attire if you plan to explore them. However, if you intend to spend the majority of your trip on the beach, you will only need a wide variety of beach clothing.

4. Personal Toiletries Are A Must

You don’t want to weigh down your suitcase with full-sized toiletries. When you use Hotel Planner to book your Bora Bora hotel, check to confirm the types of complimentary toiletries available. If you have a brand preference or require a certain type of beauty product, you’ll want to bring your own small bottle. Make sure you follow airline requirements and only bring what is absolutely necessary.

5. Don’t Forget Your Bug Spray

Like other warm climates, Bora Bora is home to its fair share of mosquitos. Pack a small bottle of bug spray to protect you from the nighttime bites. Choose something with DEET to protect yourself adequately.

An island vacation on Bora Bora can be the vacation of a lifetime. The secluded location, however, can make it difficult to purchase forgotten items. Make sure you bring along the items you need most, without overfilling your suitcase.
