Ohio is a state that’s a bit tricky to place into a region. It could make a case for being in the Northeast, though it’s technically designated in the Midwest. It encompasses three major cities: Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, all of which are well-known and embody unique stories within the fabric of American history. Though driving through Ohio can be uneventful at times, the state’s northern border of Lake Erie is a stellar hotspot for shoreline adventures.

I have passed through Ohio many times, unfortunately I haven’t done much more than that. One activity I hope to do in the future is heading toward Lake Erie and admire the pristine blue water up close. The Great Lakes offer a panoramic view reminiscent of an ocean, though I have only seen Lake Erie from my car window, I did notice cliffs along the shore as the color of water transcends into light pink during night time.

One thing that has fascinated me about Ohio is the service plazas. Ever since I was a kid, I have been mesmerized by their presence. They are brick, dome-shaped structures that appear celestial from the outside with immense interior space that’s big enough to fit a wedding banquet. Somehow, I was captivated by these service plazas that well represent the generous hospitality of the state.
