Traveling overseas can be stressful. Most of your pre-board brain function is assigned to making sure that you don’t leave your passport at security, or forget to go to the bathroom before you board. You don’t want to be running around the duty-free minutes before flight time searching for new headphones. The key to avoiding any last minute scrambling: pack your carry-on with all the essentials before you step foot in the airport. This packing list ensures that when flight day arrives, you will have nothing to worry about except what flavor of Cinnabun to order.

Packing List

  • Laptop and fitted travel case
  • Cell phone
  • Headphones
  • Electronic chargers  (i.e. cell phone, laptop, etc.)
  • MP3 player
  • Ear plugs
  • Sleep mask
  • Travel pillow
  • Extra oversized sweater that doubles as a blanket
  • Book
  • Magazines or newspaper
  • Journal or writing tablet
  • Pens
  • Gum,
  • Snack food*
  • Empty water bottle to fill once you’re through security
  • Lip balm
  • Face/hand wipes or hand sanitizer

Tips:

1. Food: Choose foods like apples, carrots, trail mix, and crackers that are easy to eat and to dispose of. Avoid foods with strong smells, sandwiches heavy on the condiments (soggy, gross!), fruits like pears and bananas that are easily squished, and junk food they tend to give you on the plane.

2. Pack a few DVDs if you decide to bring your laptop, or download movies to your computer ahead of time.

3. Use an old sunglasses case to hold your headphones and phone charger; this    trick will help avoid tangling.

4. To maximize electronic battery, invest in an Energizer Power Pack.
