See how they plan to contribute contemporary progressiveness in NYC.

If you don’t know how to contact your mayor’s office or even know what their responsibilities consist of, now is the time to do some research. New York City will be getting a new mayor on November 2, 2021. Now, many Democratic and Republican primaries are preparing to vote for potential candidates on June 22, 2021. Eric Adams (former N.Y. State Senator and NYPD officer,) Shaun Donovan ( former U.S. Secretary of Housing Developments,) and Andrew Yang (former candidate for President of the United States,) are just a few conventional politicians competing for the position. But, rapper Paperboy Love Prince, an unconventional candidate whose pronouns are they/their or god/goddess, is also running for mayor.
Prince, a 28-year-old non-binary Washington D.C.-born native, is no stranger to politics. Their parents were heavily involved with Congress representatives and conservative protests. This political influence drove Prince to participate in youth government programs and internships in the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court. Since college until now, they have been creating music to coincide with liberal views. Many of the song titles give way to this: How to Sell Cryptocurrency, Hop the Train, Do the Math and Cancel Rent…just to name a few. One of their iconic songs is Yang gang anthem which captivated the attention of Andrew Yang while he was on his campaign trail running for POTUS. Though Paperboy Love Prince is an unorthodox mayoral candidate, they aim to create an utopia for New Yorkers.
During such intense times, the relationship between the police and the Black community has grown to be evermore significant. Prince has plans to abolish the police force altogether within the next 2-5 years. They want to replace the authority of the police with a “love team” that will promote positive reinforcement, similar to Canada’s RCMP officers who are sworn to maintain public peace. Prince will also focus on poverty reduction which consists of implementing universal basic income every month for all, in the amount of USD $2,000. In addition, they want to make sure everyone has free health care that not only focuses on when one is sick but also on mental health as well. Prince wants the cancelation of rent for businesses and families hit with hardship during impromptu times.
Forming a utopian New York City consisting of NYCHA buildings becoming mansions and futuristic designs of the architecture. Prince believes that having an ongoing message of spreading love is vital. The creation of his “love gallery” in Brooklyn, is the start of his initiative to creating an urban paradise for New Yorkers. They plan on putting a community center on every block, where people can receive hugs, kisses, vegetables, and free HIV testing.
Paperboy Love Prince has many liberal, Marxist, Democratic ideals, but they don’t like to name their political beliefs. In an interview with Manhattan Neighborhood Network, when asked about their political party, they answered,
“We are not going left or going right we are going upwards.”
