Although carnival is celebrated around the world but the one in Venice is most famously known for its glamour and creativity.

The Venice Carnival, or Carnevale di Venezia, traditionally takes place during the week before lent – a time of religious observance leading up to Easter. It consists of mass celebrations and parties of indulgence before Ash Wednesday, which signifies the beginning of the Lenten period that leads up to the death of Christ. This year, Ash Wednesday will be on Feb. 17 which means festivities are currently in full swing. But due to COVID-19, it will be observed differently this year.

The event that celebrates in fabulous outfits and decorative garments will showcase a different kind of face mask this year. The city which attracts thousands of tourists during the time of Carnival has gone silent amid the coronavirus pandemic as Venetian officials prepare to prevent the spread of the disease. Last year, Carnival was shut down after only a few days due to the outbreaks rapidly spreading throughout Italy, especially Milan.
In lieu of in-person celebrations, the event can now be accessed virtually, from the comfort and safety of your own home. The streaming event will run from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7 and from Feb. 11 to Feb. 16 at 5:00 p.m.

The virtual rooms will consist of kid-friendly events, mask contests and more with guest speakers covering cultural background of the Carnival as well as comedic acts to brighten our days. To find out more about the event, you can register here.
