Go undercover at these filming locations in Montreal and Los Angeles in Netflix’s “The Recruit”.
In this new spy drama, Noah Centineo returns to the screen as Owen Hendricks, the newest CIA recruit. His desk job turns exciting when a “graymail” letter leads him to the elusive Max (Laura Haddock,) a former operative who knows too much. Owen and Max lead agents all around Europe in search of the real threat before they themselves are eliminated. Here are the filming locations of The Recruit.
Place des Arts
In episode two titled, N.LT.S.V P. Max is running from spies in Belarus, where her identity has been burned. She must now escape a party full of mobsters with nothing but a few hidden weapons and a smile. The party, although, is believed to be in Minsk, is actually located in Montreal Entertainment District’s Place des Arts where many events are held at all times so anyone can be a thrill seeker.
There’s nothing more awkward than seeing your ex out at dinner. If that dinner happens to be with a co-worker at the CIA, well, then you can imagine how Owen felt when he is pumping someone for information then Hannah appears. The restaurant which plays host to the tension is Restaurant Toque in Quebec. Toque is “the art of fine dining” and boasts a fresh avant-garde vision, cuisine, and atmosphere. You too can experience its delicious menu, sans the lingering stares and overly tight handshaking.
Mount Royal Club
Mount Royal Club features as the backdrop to Owen’s “loophole” with the Senator. After scoring an invite to a soirée with the elites of D.C. Owen brings Hannah (Fivel Stewart) to help him schmooze. While the party may look like it belongs in the White House, the rooms can be found at Mount Royal Club in Montreal. With a grand piano and beautiful oil paintings lining the walls, it is no wonder this club would house the biggest secrets. The club is open to new members, but much like the clientele at this party, it is by nomination only.
Croissant Monkland Montréal
Croissant Monkland Montréal is the bakery used to deliver Max’s revenge against the agent who gave Owen his name. In addition to offering a delectable pastry, Croissant Monkland Montréal has a large menu full of non-lethal treats. Located in downtown Montreal, it is the perfect place for anyone with a sweet tooth. Anything from the menu is mouthwatering, from chocolate eclairs to chicken crêpes.
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is the only Los Angeles location on the map. It features in the final episode of the series, when Owen accepts a deal with the Russians that Max has been outwitting for their entire “relationship.” The Cathedral is “the heart of all 287 Parish Churches and communities, it is the place where the Archbishop celebrates the major Liturgies of the year with clergy, religious and laity.”
