Starring two of the greatest actors of our generation, Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, We Live in Time is an exciting new release which marks a promising start to 2025. Across different moments in time, the film relates the story of Almut and Tobias, a couple whose lives are altered by love, loss, and time.
We Live in Time explores the evolution of their relationship, from the accident when they meet to the birth of their daughter and, ultimately, Almut’s diagnosis of a terminal illness. Through these moments, the film dives into feelings and challenges the family faces, emphasizing the belief that every second matters in their personal journey.
The backdrop of the story is a warm yet occasionally melancholic London, mirroring the characters’ inner world. As the story unfolds, the locations shift, taking the couple through new landscapes that reflect more mature stages of their lives.
Herne Hill, London

Almut and Tobias are, above all, two simple yet worldly people, the kind you might encounter on a normal day on the street. To align with this, the director aimed to show the most natural side of the city, allowing the relationship between two protagonists to take center stage.
The first home they share is in Herne Hill, in southeast London, away from the urban chaos of the most touristic parts of the city. It is surrounded by green spaces like Dulwich Park, a smaller version of Hyde Park, which includes lakes, forests, and paths that wind through gardens. The peace that the area offers, combined with affordable prices of the housing, has led to the development of a warm community in Herne Hill, with families and young couples starting a life together. It is also a vibrant neighborhood blending nature with the city, famous for Dulwich Picture Gallery, home to an impressive collection of European art.
Hascombe, Surrey

Almut and Tobias decide to create a new home outside of London when they have their daughter, choosing Hascombe in Surrey County. This small village, near Godalming and Guildford, is located in the heart of a rural area prominent in England for its green, charming pastures and the bucolic peace provided by its paths. Hascombe Hill Nature Reserve, situated on a hill, offers expansive views of the county, along with routes that showcase the local fauna and flora.
St. Peter’s Church crowns Hascombe, standing as the town’s unmistakable emblem. The original building dates back to 1220 and was constructed in the style prevalent in the 13th century. Its intricate decoration, especially visible on the stained-glass windows, the walls adorned with biblical representations and high ceilings, captivates any visitor. The church’s magnificence is a surprising contrast in the middle of a modest setting, far from the urban hustle.
Andrew Garfield, who grew up in the area, confessed to having reconciled with his hometown after returning as an adult to record We Live In Time. Having spent his teenage years wanting to leave to pursue his dreams in acting, he finally acknowledged the beauty of Surrey County, especially, the charm of everyday life there.
