You’ve never seen a grungy Canada like this before in The Unforgivable.

The Unforgivable stars award-winning actress Sandra Bullock as ex-convict Ruth Slater. The film also stars Rob Morgan as parole officer Vincent Cross, Vincent D’Onofrio as family-man-slash-lawyer John Ingram, award-winning actress and producer Viola Davis as Liz Ingram, Richard Thomas and Linda Emond as Katherine/Katie’s adopted parents Michael and Rachel Malcom, Emma Nelson as Katherine/Katie’s adopted sister Emily Malcom, Aisling Franciosi as young adult Katherine/Katie, Tom Guiry and Will Pullen as the vengeful brothers Keith and Steve Whelan, Jon Bernthal as Ruth’s friend Blake, and Jessica McLeod as Steve’s wife Hannah.
The story follows Ruth Slater, a recently released convict after 20 years in prison, who tries to get in contact with her baby sister Katie. Ruth went to prison for killing a cop in cold blood, but as the story continues the truth about that fateful day comes to light. Unfortunately, the sons of the dead cop get word of Ruth’s release and intend to get revenge.

Chapel Arts

Ruth’s second job was at Chapel Arts, located at 79 W 3rd Ave in Vancouver. This studio-slash-showroom is an establishment dedicated to woodworking arts. This place is only accessible by appointment. Some upcoming projects in the works to be released to the public, such as “Fairmont Pacific,” a bicycle carousel that is sure to delight visitors.
The Bloedel Conservatory

Just outside this domed oasis, Ruth and Emily had their first meeting. The Bloedel Conservatory is home for over 100 unique species of birds, as well as over 500 exotic flowers and plants. Families could activate their senses in the temperature-controlled habitats and gather together to capture a Kodak moment. The conservatory is no stranger to visitors hosting wedding photoshoots.

Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club

If you are looking for more recreational activities, why not golfing? The Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club is one of two locations that share astounding panoramic views of the mountains as well as the golf course. This clubhouse has amenities such as 3 banquet rooms, a members practice area, and an Après Kitchen & Bar. The Westwood is also a great wedding venue and is available for private tours.

Surrey City Centre Library

Ruth made a stop at this library to do an internet search on her sister, but instead found articles on their former house. There are about ten different libraries located around the Surrey area, but the City Centre Library Branch is where production chose to shoot this scene. This library has 4 floors and access to free computers, WIFI, mobile printing services, study rooms, meditation rooms, scanners and bookable meeting rooms. They even offer 2 hours of free parking!
Surrey City Hall

The meeting room where Ruth and lawyer John Ingram (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) met with Michael and Rachel Malcom to discuss Katie. Located at 13450 104 Avenue, Surrey City Hall is practically an architectural marvel as it functions as public art along with its many meeting rooms and rentals. It is accessible via the SkyTrain by taking the Expo Line and by any bus.
BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
Canadian Motion Picture Park

Multiple scenes were carried out at the Canadian Motion Picture Park. Fun fact: according to Atlas of Wonders, the skyline outside of the Bloedel Conservatory was one of a digitally-enhanced Seattle skylines. Located on 8085 Glenwood Drive, this 25-acre production center houses premium soundstages and BC’s only backlot with customizable store fronts. It is also known for its many blockbuster films and shows, such as Supernatural, Legends of Tomorrow, A Million Little Things, Mission Impossible, Godzilla and many more.
COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
City Centre Aquatic Complex

Unfortunately, we couldn’t pinpoint where the Slater’s house was, but we found this gem of a recreational center in the same city it was said to be filmed in. Located on 1210 Pinetree Way, City Centre Aquatic Complex is an ideal place for family fun. The complex’s amenities include a lazy river, wave pool, an eight-lane lap pool complete with diving boards, a steam room, dry sauna and even a whirlpool. They even have available personal trainers for their fitness center.
