In this coming-of-age drama, Clare and Aiden are looking forward to the college experience, but not before leaving their mark on high school. In order to avoid the sadness of breaking up, Clare takes a detour back to the school. Aidan’s best friend Scotty, and Clare’s best friend, Stella, tag along to wrangle the lovers’ anxiety as their breakup looms. Chasing Clare through room after room, Scotty uses her sudden chaotic energy to participate in a senior tradition. Scotty steals paint from the art room and plasters a handprint on the senior wall. Port Moody Secondary School serves as the canvas for these teenage shenanigans. The handprints added by Scotty only accent the colorful setting provided by the interior of the building.

White Pine Beach is showcased frequently throughout the film. The couple’s first and last “I love you” exchanges happen on this beach. Located on Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Regional Park near Port Moody, there are plenty of activities for visitors. From swimming to hiking, no one will suffer from boredom here. White Pine Beach offers its occupants an incredible “easy breezy” day any day of the week.

As part of Aiden’s goodbye to Clare, he brings her to a hockey arena. In a flashback, the audience observes the couple’s first fight. The argument is seemingly insignificant, however, Aiden wishes to remedy the memory. He rents out the entirety of the second floor arena in Port Moody Recreation Complex. For the next hour; Clare and Aiden skate, play, and slow dance across the ice. The complex offers ice skating lessons or pick-up hockey games all year round for anyone who wishes to enjoy its amenities.

Jordan Fisher cannot star in a Netflix movie without adding a musical element. During another date, the two rock out at a music festival. In the background of Clare’s phone call with Stella, a banner for Summerset Music Festival is highlighted. The Summerset Music Festival is a real, annual event in Fort Langley, British Columbia. According to its Facebook, The Summerset Music Festival is “a 3-day, multi-genre music and arts festival.” It is an unforgettable 72 hours of music and art that everyone needs to experience.

During Clare and Aiden’s first meeting, they stumble across a playground. In the midst of talking about their dreams and childhoods on the monkey bars, the two share many romantic moments. As the playground where these scenes were filmed is in a residential area, it remains nameless. But fear not, you can still “monkey around” on The Rocky Point Playground instead. The Rocky Point Playground is a popular area in Port Moody for children and graduates alike to relive nostalgia and whimsy as if for the first time.
