This is Mike’s Lake Tahoe cheat sheet.

Two weeks ago, Mike Bline, owner of a phenomenal restaurant and ski lodge in Lake Tahoe, California, gave us more than a few reasons why Cottonwood Restaurant is a must-stop for travelers and skiers.
Now, he gives us a cheat sheet on some of his favorites “musts” in the area. Recommendations from a local, that’s how we like it!

JST: What would your perfect day on the mountain consist of?
Mike: Our family’s avocation is Nordic skiing and North Lake Tahoe is home to the most fantastic concentration of cross-country skiing in the United States. My perfect day on the mountain would be a leisurely 10k cruise with my wife, Jennifer, and our daughter, Savannah, at Royal Gorge followed by lunch and a good IPA. This describes a typical Sunday for us.
JST: What is your favorite mountain? Favorite run?
Mike: We have a family history at Northstar and I love the North Lookout area. The tree skiing on a powder day is stellar.
JST: What’s your favorite lunch spot on the mountain?
Mike: The Zephyr Lodge at Northstar.

JST: What is your favorite après ski bar or café?
Mike: Home! We restaurateurs get plenty of restaurant food…I’ll take Jennifer’s homemade chicken curry any day.
