Santa Ynez Inn is a magnificent building in itself. What is the story behind the inn, when was it established in Santa Ynez Valley?

The Inn was created by Douglas and Christine Ziegler and opened October 01, 2001.  Mr. Ziegler sold his family business in 1995 and bought property in Los Alamos.  In 1997 they purchased the property next door where The Vineyard House Restaurant is and in 1998 purchased the property that the hotel is now built.  It was their hope to create a one-stop destination for luxury lodging, dining and shopping.

Santa Ynez Inn recently went through an upgraded renovation. What are some new additions to the hotel?

In 2008 we added 6 additional rooms bringing our room total to 20.  These rooms feature additional amenities such as steam shower units, heated tiles and an additional 100 sq ft plus in each room.  They also feature a seating area in front of the fireplace to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

Guests can also enjoy a homey breakfast at the inn, do you change the menu daily?

We have a new menu every morning featuring a sweet and savory option which guests can enjoy in our main dining room or in their room via complimentary room service. We don’t offer lunch or dinner but do provide complimentary wine hour featuring local wines, cheese board and light appetizers and also include desserts. We also provide room service for lunch and dinner via The Vineyard House restaurant.

What are some amenities that guests can enjoy? We know you have an amazing  jacuzzi and a beautiful library room!

On property we have two massage treatment rooms, a fitness suite and a dry sauna downstairs. We also have an outdoor hot tub and sun deck.  Next door to us on our property is Serenity Skin Spa offering facials, manicures, pedicures and skin treatments.

What is the experience you would like guests to walk away with after staying at Santa Ynez Inn?

Everyone is different and it’s difficult to put everyone in the same box but our Santa Ynez Valley is so diverse with so many great wineries, great restaurants, outdoor activities and more importantly good people that I hope our guests are enchanted by our area so much that they spread the word to their friends and so on.  I’m really proud of what we have to offer out here and we here at the Inn love to be a part of a guests stay and overall experience by making these suggestions and accommodations for them to enhance their stay.  We want guests to think of The Santa Ynez Inn and The Santa Ynez Valley as their home away from home.
