When I lived in San Francisco, one of my favorite things to do whenever I felt overwhelmed (with life) was to get in my car, and drive all the way down the the Central California Coast and spend a few days alone in Santa Ynez Valley.
My secret solitude spot is also a favorite of Hollywood celebrities. In fact, many have managed to open and sustain successful vineyards in the valley, including: Fergie, Kate Hudson and Emilio Estevez (Breakfast Club, anyone?)
There’s something about the tranquil and exceedingly beautiful spot Santa Ynez Valley. It’s rustic with fields of vineyards that produce delicious wines to compete with any you can find in France. It’s chic with footprints of laidback Angelinos who need a getaway from L.A.’s overwhelming, fast-paced cycles of trends. Upon entering Santa Ynez Valley, the world moves a bit slower so that any traveler can stop for a moment to enjoy nature’s beauty that we often subconsciously appear to ignore.
Sunsets, horses, vineyards and glistening wine bottles are all that photographer Tenley Fohl captures by the art of her camera and an inherent perspective. Fohl’s work has been featured in National Geographic, LA Times, Forbes.com; Delta Sky Magazine, Edible Santa Barbara, HuffingtonPost.com, Zagat.com…and so many more.
Needless to say, I’m extremely thrilled that Jetset Times has collaborated with Tenley Fohl Photography to bring 20 extraordinary photos for you to hang on your wall. So you can dream of California in the comfort of your own home. Here’s a sneak peak:
Sentinel
A perfectly balanced oak tree standing watch as the evening sky softens the days end with a splash of rainbow colors in the Santa Ynez Valley of California.
Bountiful Harvest
Thankful for the beauty and bounty of Buttonwood Farm Winery in Solvang, CA the day after Thanksgiving.
Old Man of the Hill
A strong, resilient, and low to the ground oak braces itself against a strong winter wind atop the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in the Santa Ynez Valley of California.
Doodle
A gentle soul named ‘Doodle’ welcomed us to Bella Cavali Farms & Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley, and also calmly enjoyed the attention of the camera.
Following Fences
Every turn of the road and bend of the fence-line made me curious as to what was waiting beyond. Waiting patiently however, led to taking in the moment of the end of day glow.
Beckoning Hill
The golden hills of the Santa Ynez Valley were aglow on an October afternoon…begging to be enjoyed and photographed.
