The High Line is located on 10th Avenue, and stretches from West 14th Street to West 30th Street.

New York City is known for its never-ending skyscrapers, fast-paced lifestyle, shiny lights, and Wall Street tycoons. What it is not renowned for is greenery. Even confined in its perfect rectangle, Central Park adds a touch of nature to the middle of the city. However, elsewhere in the city trees are scant. The smell of flowers and the lull of the birds are usually replaced by honking cars and the aroma of Starbucks coffee carried by speedy residents on their way to work. The High Line is a park located on a bridge that is intertwined between buildings, a momentary escape without losing touch with the city. It is located on 10th Avenue, and stretches from West 14th Street to West 30th Street with multiple entrances and exits to street level.
The High Line is different than any typical park. It does have its trees, its grass fields for picnics, and a plethora of flowers. The layout of the plants, the architecture of the benches and lighting, and the surrounding atmosphere, however, make one feel as if they have walked into a modern art exhibit. It is a park that has not forgotten its location: New York City. You can smell the flowers mixed with the aroma of hotdogs from a nearby seller; you see both the colors of flowers and the color of paintings and art installments. It is a moment of peace without forgetting that you are still part of a bustling city. There is an extraordinary feeling of balance as you watch the sun set over the Hudson River and turn around to see the buildings and streets light up behind you.
