8 Ice Creams We’ll Fly To NYC For, Anytime.

Your sweet tooth will stop aching.

There’s no denying that ice cream is the ultimate American treat. Whether the Big Apple is hit by snow storms or melting under the summer soleil, travelers and locals are constantly craving for the old school frozen dessert.

In New York City, you may find that Lower East Side is already saturated with ice cream parlors from one corner to another. Newer shops have opened in Brooklyn, catering to clientele looking for organic flavors made with quirkier attitudes.

Besides ice cream parlors, we’ve also included innovative dishes featured at the end of lovely high-end meals. Who said ice cream can’t be opulent and lush? We’ve filtered down to 8 heavenly hotspots in New York, where your sweet tooth will stop aching.

1. Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream

Neighborhood: Lower East Side

Only in NYC will you find a USD $20 banana split. At Morgenstern’s, however, it’s worth the bill.  If banana splits aren’t your thing, then try their new breakfast with avocado ice cream spread on sweet toast. Seriously, it’s better than a cup of joe. Well, almost. In addition, slice up Morgenstern’s ice cream cake. It’s simply divine.

2. Black Ant

60 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003, United States (map, website)

Neighborhood: East Village

Nothing beats the sweetest note that spells the word: La Feria. This famous sundae at the Black Ant is the perfect combo of crispy crunchy, and milky creamy. Made by pastry chef Cesar Moreno, the sundae is an exciting plate of strawberries, condensed-milk, fried plantains, crème fraîche and piloncillo sauce. This is a refreshing yet creamy finish to a contemporary Mexican feast.

3. 10Below Ice Cream

10 Mott St, New York, NY 10013, United State (map, website)

Neighborhood: Chinatown

If you want ice cream with a lot of demeanor, the brothers behind 10Below Ice Cream have got exactly what you need. Talk about flavors named with just as much oomph: #BAEsic (pumpkin spice,) I Love You A Latte (coffee, chocolate chips,) and Monkey Business (nutella and bananas.) Brothers Wilson and Richard Tam, and their partner David Chen were inspired by ice creameries in Thailand, where they pour cream on top of extremely cold metal containers so the cream freeze instantly to be served for long lines of customers.

4. Morimoto

88 10th Ave, New York, NY 10011, United States (map, website)

Neighborhood: Chelsea

Celebrity chef Michelle Kogan puts her creative spin on the traditional Japanese dessert: mochi. Typically filled with red beans or black sesame paste inside, Kogan switches up a classic dish with yogurt gelato and black-sesame toffee. If you’ve been to Japan and you’ve tasted the real deal, then you’ve got to try Morimoto’s innovative and tasty version.

5. Mikey Likes It Ice Cream

Neighborhood: East Village

Part of what makes this ice creamery so intriguing is its backstory. Started by an ex-con, Mikey Cole, who was imprisoned for selling marijuana. After discovering a homemade recipe at his aunt’s house, Cole – the native East Villager – became an entrepreneur in the game of ice cream. Don’t miss the mouthwatering waffle sandwiches: Mac Daddy (half waffle ice cream sandwich with your choice of flavor and waffle,) and Daddy Mac (whole waffle ice cream sandwich with your choice of flavor and waffle.)

We’re just trying to push the boundaries of what companies are doing with ice cream, while building lasting relationships with local business owners, entrepreneurs and other great people.

6. Uncle Boons

If you go loco over coconuts, then trippin’ to Uncle Boons is a must. The delish Thai restaurant serves up a lineup of flavorful dishes that’ll take you straight to Southeast Asia. But we highly recommend ending your meal with chefs Ann Redding and Matt Danzer’s sundae exploding with coconut and peanut candies. OBSESSED.

7. MilkMade Tasting Room

Normally, MilkMade Ice Cream is known for its hand-source, hand-craft, and hand-delivered unique ice cream flavors to your door on a monthly basis. But what we love about the tasting room, which is located on the storefront space, is the crazy-cool flavors that may sound a little ridiculous but taste fantastic. For the experimentals traversing through Brooklyn with fellow hipsters, you’ll want to stop by MilkMade for a fun tasting.

8. Molyvos

871 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019, United States (map, website)

Neighborhood: Carnegie Hall

If you weren’t into Japanese mochi from earlier on our list, then you should venture in Greek sweets. The Molyvos Sundae at this trendy Greek hotspot is to-die-for. Inside the thin and unleavened phyllo dough beholds vanilla ice cream with beautiful tiny blocks of dense and sweet confections of halva.
