It’s no surprise that Los Angeles has an enormous LGBTQ community famously accepted throughout the city.

In most downtown areas of Los Angeles, it is common to find gay bars and drag shows especially in West Hollywood (WeHo) which is filled with a majority of these institutions. Here are some of our favorite gay bars and nightlife hotspots throughout the City of Angels.
The Abbey Food & Bar

Located in the heart of WeHo, The Abbey Food & Bar is a two-time winner of the MTV logo, Best Gay Bar in the World award. Open seven days a week, this establishment offers all kinds of food and drinks during the day and transforms into a club setting at night.

The Plaza is a 21+ club which offers delicious cocktails and some of the best drag shows in the city. Patrons often describe the venue as incredibly welcoming and unique in its drag performances that are unlike any other shows throughout the city. There is a cover fee which varies depending on the day and time you attend.
The New Jalisco Bar

This authentic Latin bar offers no cover fee drag shows that are interactive with guests. The cash-only bar plays a variety of music from merengue, reggaeton to cumbia.
Chico

This dance club offers drag shows, DJs and karaoke on Wednesday nights. The location is out of the way in terms of being in the center of West Hollywood but a night at Chico will not disappoint. It also offers birthday party packages as well as VIP table accommodations.
