Katsu Sando sandwich with panko-crusted fried chicken and tonkatsu sauce are just some recommendations at Humble Potato.

Having lived in Hong Kong, I often crave foods with a bit of an Asian taste, preferably the kind you can get only in Asia itself. That said, I also appreciate a solid American burger and some crunchy fries, both of which Los Angeles has plenty. We often hear about high-end fusion cuisine, the kind where a renowned chef blends Asian and Western ingredients from all over the world to produce a distinctive and delicious taste (usually only available at expensive and disgustingly-tiny-portion-serving restaurants). As a college student, this isn’t ideal for the budget situation. I never imagined, however, that these two distinct elements could be combined into an affordable, fast-food creation. Humble Potato is a relatively new restaurant located in Westchester, Los Angeles that adds a Japanese touch to traditional American recipes.
The restaurant is a fast-food joint with a cozy vibe, decorated with contemporary Japanese trinkets such as comic book, posters, and beckoning cats. Fittingly, their motto is “American comfort. Japanese kick.”

The menu consists of a variety of hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads, among others. One highlight is their Battle Royale, a burger combining Angus beef, avocado, romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, and a fried egg. This mouthwatering dish can be combined with the Shichimi & Garlic Parmesan fries and the scrumptious pink Humble Potato sauce. Other recommendations include the Abocado Shake, an ice blended shake that combines chocolate and avocado, and the Katsu Sando sandwich with panko-crusted fried chicken and tonkatsu sauce. If you’re in the LA area and you’re a fan of American food with a twist, Humble Potato is definitely a must.
