The Muddlers Club Restaurant
The Muddlers Club refers to a secret society formed by United Irishmen who met in the Cathedral Quarter during the 1790s. Now, the restaurant with the same name is led by chef Gareth McCaughey who brought his talents from OX (see below) to his own establishment. Opened in 2015, The Muddlers Club was awarded with a Michelin star in 2020. Its tasting menu features locally-sourced ingredients and changes according to the season. Black Rice, Sea Trout and Sesame showcases Belfast’s access to unique types of seafood. Similar to the Red Mullet Bouillabaisse, Gnocchi. The Lamb Carpaccio, Aubergine, Romesco is also a fascinating perspective on a classic Italian appetizer.

James St
Chef and restaurateur Niall McKenna has elevated Belfast’s bistro scene and James St is a fine example as a sophisticated steakhouse. Minimalistic design and high ceiling provide a modern setting, accompanied by a menu known for chargrilled and aged steaks, cooked perfectly on innovative Josper grill. If prime cuts aren’t what you’re craving for, there’s also a good variety of fish dishes. In addition to its delectable whiskey drinks, there are also ciders and local beers like the Yardsman BPA that highlight Belfast’s brewery culture.
