aster takes us to Parisian dining trends, though embedded in Swedish roots.

aster, one of the few restaurants that’s considered a higher end dining option in the city, is located in the up-and-coming Varvsstaden, edging Western Harbor. Inspired by various memories of the owner’s travels with his wife, the interior design is a marriage of New York cool and sleek Scandinavian miminalism.
Many of the ingredients are grown from the restaurant’s own garden, proficiently incorporated into Mediterranean-inspired dishes that also carry hints of the Middle East.

On this night, three dishes were devoured: pork neck skewers with tare soy sauce base, furikake (dried seaweed,) and herb mayo. The carrot, pineapple weed, raspberries, cress and sorrel plate was flavorful and refreshing with rooted tastes of earthy origins. Our main dish was the sirloin steak with muhammara, tomato, persillade and jus. Tender, juicy. Absolutely divine.
For a Swedish gastro-bistro vibe, aster is it.
