Even a Mac & Cheese Melt can be decadent.

We sat down with Edinburgh foodie and local blogger, Tris, to hear about her top five favorite restaurants in Edinburgh that every tourist and local alike should visit!

1. Dishoom

From Bombay with love – Dishoom has got to be my all-time favourite. It is deeply rooted in the Irani café culture in Mumbai. From the food to the ambience to the decor, Dishoom does not disappoint.

Their “Chicken Berry Britannia” biryani is simply breathtaking. Every piece of chicken buried in the biryani is tender and aromatic. The Masala Prawns are also amazing. Other dishes worth trying are: Paneer Tikka and Prawn Koliwada. Be sure to make a reservation before your visit because it is almost always packed, although the wait is definitely worth it. Order a few cocktails at their Permit Room while you wait!

2. Meltmongers

Perfect place for breakfast, lunch or brunch! This toastie store sits right across Bruntsfield Links so you can always bring your toastie to the park for a view. One word to describe their infamous Mac & Cheese Melt: decadent. Pair your Mac & Cheese toastie with some sweet potato fries and you will find yourself repenting for your cheat meal.

3. Bross Bagels

They say some of the best bagels can be found in New York, but be still, for Edinburgh has some competition worthy bagels! The Montreal inspired bagels come with very generous amounts of everything. My personal favourite is the “Leither” with jalapeno cream cheese and hot smoked salmon on a poppy bagel. These bagels are guaranteed to make your day. Vegan options are available too.

4. @Pizza

I am in love with this pizza place that allows you to select as many types of toppings as you want! After your selections, your pizza will be baked and ready in mere 90 seconds! When it’s sunny in Edinburgh, you might want to grab some of their pizzas and head to Princes Street Garden which is just a few minutes away.

If you are a meat lover, make sure you try out their bespoke Italian sausages (basilica picante).

5. Bubba Q

As the name suggests, it is full of barbecue options! I have been there countless of times. They are always doing some sort of promotion which makes them an even better place for food. Inspired by American barbecue, Bubba Q’s pork ribs are to die for!!! Another popular option here is the Dirty Donut – yes, a doughnut burger. Sweet doughnut buns paired with salty beef patties, perfect combination! Some of my favourites from BubbaQ are: Texan fajitas, Bubba’s TaQos and chicken wings.

Located right on the Royal Mile, you can always walk down the entire mile after a hearty and calorific meal!

Love,
