Is there any place that’s more breathtaking than Lisbon?
That’s what I ask myself every time I walk up and down the narrow cobblestone streets of and look back at the views upon views which greet me at the top of every hill and look up at every mind-blowing street mural that’s bursting with color. Something about Lisbon speaks to and feeds my saudade soul: the fading colors of the ceramics on every façade, the enchanting presence of the light blue Atlantic Ocean, the amazingly fresh seafood cooked in small hole in the wall restaurants and the lovely, courteous demeanor of Portuguese people.
Lisbon will always have a special place in my heart and remain one of my favorite places on earth. Lisboa is like a lover whom I always long for and dream of being with forever. The mesmerizing city itself inspires saudade—a sense of longing for something beautiful that is no longer there—which I’m sure every person who is lucky enough to end up in Lisbon experiences once they leave.
