Chinggis Khaan, or Genghis Khan, was a genius of a ruler who brought all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia under his empire.

The Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex is located an hour outside of Ulaanbaatar by car, and it’s the world’s largest equestrian statue at 40 meters tall, made from 250 tons of stainless steel. It faces east towards his birthplace, Genghis Khan holds onto a golden whip on his right hand, signifying his rise from humble beginnings to build one of history’s most expansive empires. It is now one of the most recognized landmarks in Mongolia.

At the museum’s ground floor, visitors can ride an elevator to enter the main vista point from the statue, between the horse’s chest and neck. What awaits is a beautiful view of the surrounding area, making it a must-see on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar.
