Home of limocello, and a quaint restaurant called Ristorante Bruno.

Positano is probably already first on your list of top vacation destinations, but if it’s not then it will be after reading this.

If you’re on Instagram, you’ve perused supermodels’ Italian vacation highlight reels. You’ve dreamt of visiting the western coast of Italy to lounge on the beach and bask in the Mediterranean sun. Nestled into the hills on the famous Amalfi Coast is the town of Positano, one of the most picturesque cities in Europe. It’s colorful, pastel buildings are stacked one on top of the other to form an awe-inspiring site.
During the ancient Roman Empire, noble families built vacation homes, villas, throughout Italy. Positano was no exception. The unique landscape and crystal-blue waters that attract modern day travelers are the same characteristics that attracted the wealthy ancient Romans. This coastline has been a vacation destination for centuries.

The Amalfi Coast is most famous for the creation of the beloved lemon liquor, limoncello. Lemon orchards are abundant in this area and tours, where one can observe the process of producing the liquor, are common. Myriads of other lemon products are also available in the small stores that line the streets. A popular drink is, essentially, a limoncello slushy. It is the perfect refreshment to quench your thirst on a hot summer day at the beach.

The ideal place to grab a drink or a bite to eat is a quaint restaurant called Ristorante Bruno. It is located on a street elevated above the town, Via Cristoforo Colombo. The incredible view makes the 20-minute hike through the streets well worth it. The food is authentic, and the service is impeccable (no corking fee). The menu covers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. I was impressed by the pasta primavera. It was simple, elegant and filling. The unreal view of the town from the outdoor seating area is what makes this restaurant truly special.

Just a short ferry ride from the island of Capri, this beautiful, little gem is the perfect Instagram-post waiting to happen. Whether you recline on the beach under the colorful beach bungalows, discover the wonders of the Mediterranean by boat, or wander the little streets to the top of the town, you will be struck with a feeling of otherworldliness. Positano is a place of pure luxury and relaxation which makes it a must-see for any jetsetter.
Positano is probably already first on your list of top vacation destinations, but if it’s not then you should tend to that immediately.
