Eating well should not be reserved for the elite.

One of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite places to eat in Paris was at Le Comptoir du Relais, right in the heart of the 6th arrondissement. The idea behind Le Comptoir is simple: eating well should not be reserved for the elite.
Expect absolutely excellent traditional French dishes, without uptight stuffiness at a fine dining or haute cuisine restaurant.

Order the Cured Salmon Gravlax marinated by the restaurant, with dill and lemon condiments. Absolutely divine, utterly fresh, with a punch of flavors bursting from tangerine fish roe on top. Pied de Porc désossé et pané (boneless and breaded pig’s trotter,) mashed potato with Meaux mustard was perfectly crispy on the outside, while maintaining fragrant tenderness in the interior. The Sirloin Steak with pepper sauce and potato mousse was another common French number, though sang in sheer delight.
Le Comptoir du Relais doesn’t take reservations and is almost always full, pop in at odd hours, around 3 or 4pm for a guaranteed seat.
