Rekindled friendships.

Some friends come and go. Some remain for a lifetime. Some stay long enough to last from one train station to the next, if life was a metro line. Or the yellow ligne un, stretching from La Défense to Château de Vincennes, with a crowded stop at Franklin Roosevelt, right in front of Arc de Triomphe.

Some friends come and go, then come back again. As we strolled by the gigantic arc, meandering from one starry restaurant to a stylish concept store: Kith Paris.

We didn’t mean to come here. Carette was overwhelmed with tourists, Le Royal Monceau was under renovation. So we wandered inside the historic Pershing Hall Building on Rue Pierre Charron, named after the French Catholic theologian. Kith is an American lifestyle brand from New York City, the brainchild of Ronnie Fieg back in 2011. Today, there are multiple locations around the world, though the one in Paris is nothing short of posh. The largest flagship location covers 16,000 square feet of sleek space, where numerous retail boutiques call home. Not to mention, Treats, a sweet parlor serving up customized ice creams and milkshakes.

There we were, tucked at the corner, exchanging upon muted turquoise velour at Sadelle’s, Kith’s courtyard restaurant. Rather than caviar and champagne, we ordered café crèmes. Under an open ceiling, conversations brewed deeper than coffees dripping from nostalgia and dreams for the future. Like different hubs of Kith spotted throughout the globe; Paris, London, Vietnam, Taiwan were places that we’ve explored together. At the end of the evening, we hopped back onto the yellow line. Like typical Parisians, squeezed sardines during rush hour.

Rekindled friendships, quite the elated rides back on the metro.
