Inside one of my favorite gardens Jardin des Plantes in Paris’ 5th arrondissement is Grande Galerie de L’Évolution which is a wonderful place for the entire family to explore. There are more than 7,000 preserved animal species displayed inside a 19th-century glass and metal hall. There are also moments of sound and light shows simulating rainfalls and storms. The entrance of the museum opens to massive installations of multiple dinosaur bones in giant displays and the aquatic world.

The second floor features a sweeping caravan of animals as part of the National Museum of Natural History. Almost like traveling from Africa to Latin America where visitors can admire impressive taxidermy of elephants, giraffes, even polar bears in life-sized forms. The upper floors take visitors into the human impact on our environment and the evolution of living organisms throughout time.

The building itself was once home to the zoology gallery, today it showcases the history of the living world. If you’re looking for something family-friendly to do in Paris, Grande Galerie de l’Évolution is definitely a perfect choice.
