Whereas most of Europe starts piling on the heavy jackets and snow boots once January hits, in Dubrovnik you can still go out with just a jeans and a T-shirt.
When you need an escape from the dreary gray skies and whether that seems to warn about a snowstorm, Croatia will be your blissful paradise. Specifically, Dubrovnik is located close to the Southern tip of Croatia, meaning it experiences some of the most beautiful weather yearlong.
Furthermore, it is located on the Adriatic ocean, so from almost every point in Dubrovnik it is possible to see the awe-inspiring blue of the sea. While others shovel the snow from their yards, you will be able to sunbathe on the beach or enjoy the cool temperatures of an endless blue ocean. And even though exploring the forts, towers, churches, and the spectacular city wall can keep you busy for days, the Island of Lokrum is another worthwhile visit to continue the tropical feel of your vacation.
Located only 10 minutes away, the Island of Lokrum emerges you in what feels like a rainforest. Home to exotic plants and dense forestry, plus lakes and access to the ocean, the Island of Lokrum offers you hours of exploring or simply more relaxing and swimming. If hiking around the island is not your forte (it certainly is not mine), check out the beautiful botanical gardens instead. Regardless of how you choose to spend your time in Dubrovnik, it is nice to shed that puffy winter jacket and relax in the sun while the rest of Europe is freezing.
