The beautiful property is not just a stay, it is an experience within itself.

For those residing in Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and anywhere near the Mediterranean, the Costa Brava is a hot summer spot on everyone’s list. After having the pleasure of visiting Cadaqués, Aiguablava, Fornells, Begur, Sant Antoni de Calonge, and Palamós, I can honestly say that I fully support the hype. The Costa Brava sports incredible beaches, consistently sunny days, cleanliness, and effervescent, clear blue-green water. It is an absolute paradise that lies only about an hour away from the busy epicenter that is Barcelona.

The only catch is that the Costa Brava knows all it has to offer…and so do the locals. Most Airbnbs and hotels, especially during the summer, are not unreasonable but are definitely priced to demand. There are, however, some hidden gems that are more than worth it and will allow you to extend your stay on the beautiful beaches.

The residence where I stayed last weekend was by far one of my favorite Airbnb experiences to date! The beautiful property is not just a stay, it is an experience within itself. Less than a three-minute walk to the beach and literally next door to a supermarket, restaurant, bakery, and fish market, the house offers the absolute best of the Costa Brava. It is positioned in the center of Sant Antoni de Calonge, perfectly located between hidden beaches on the right and the medieval town of Palamós on the left.

The house has been in the family for generations and although it carries a 70’s modernism flair, it also could be mistaken for being completely brand new (it was completely renovated just this past spring). The owner, Olga, lives in one of the rooms of the house and rents out three bedrooms, all with double beds, high ceilings, privacy, and separate spaces of the house. Olga herself is such an interesting person and only contributes to the vibe of the space. As a kind of more personalized, smaller bed and breakfast, the house and Olga really tailor to their individual guests and need.

The pictures speak for themselves but the communal spaces, private areas, terraces, open ambient, and more make this house an ideal location for couples, families, solo travelers, and friends looking for a weekend getaway. As a complete neat freak and a lover of fine things myself, I give this Airbnb five stars. For only 60 euros, the price absolutely cannot be beat and there’s even more! Olga offers her guests free private parking and wifi that works on the entire beach and boardwalk! Nowadays, there is really not much more you can ask for.
