Though September usually means back to school for many, according to the official calendar, you’ve got until the 22th to say goodbye to our favorite season. Here are five ways you can savor every last day, and live the summer up to its full potential:

1. Keep your shorts and boat shoes on

A city like San Francisco is actually the warmest during the September/October months, so if you’re around, you’re in luck. Take your cutest summer shoes and shorts out, and flaunt them until the season’s last days. If things are getting cooler around your area, don’t sacrifice the brights in exchange for warmer clothing.

2. Load up on seasonal favorites

Watermelon and peaches are summer’s sweets, and they’re still fresh and abundant in your neighborhood farmer’s market. Cucumbers are also still in their peak, so keep up the smoothies and refreshing summer salads.

3. Sport that rockin’ that bod

Don’t get too comfortable inside just yet. Go outside, take a run, and soak up all the vitamin D. Show off your summer glow while you can, you’ve got all autumn and winter to stay bundled up at home.

4. Squeeze in that mini-vacay

Whether it’s a weekend in Vegas, a day exploring Florence, or just a walk along Amsterdam’s canals, you can always find a getaway just around the corner. Summer is all about good company and timeless memories, where you go and for how long aren’t nearly as important.

5. Maintain your cool

You know that relaxing summer feel? Pay attention to that feeling, because energy and liveliness are not only sentiments of the summer season. Just because work and school are starting, doesn’t mean it’s time to stress. Keep your zen, and that bright, positive energy that summer brings. Oh, and make sure to do this one for the entirety of the year.
