Tech Tuesday: The Best City Apps Roundup

I’ve found some of the top city apps to help you and your friends explore a major destination on your next visit.

In the past, exploring new places always required extensive planning with an itinerary and list of all the things you needed to do or see. Now, thanks to technology and Steve Jobs, you can enjoy your next travel adventure, courtesy of the app store on your smartphone. After some research, I’ve found some of the top city apps to help you and your friends explore a major city on your next visit. Of course these are only a few apps to get you started, so be sure to do your own search of travel apps in your spare time. The best part about these city apps? They’re free!

1. Uber

You can’t really explore the city without a means of getting around. Uber makes cities more accessible by connecting you to drivers that will pick you up and take you anywhere you want to go. Just set up an account, put in your location and within 10 minutes, an Uber car will come and pick you up. And you don’t have to worry about having cash on hand. Once you reach your destination, Uber will charge the card linked with your account, making payments convenient for you. With good prices and reliability, Uber is the perfect way to get around town.

4. Drink Advisor

Of course, you have to be 21 years old and over to download this app, but for those of legal drinking age, this app is a must have. It’s a guide to the best bars, nightlife, clubs and drinks. Drink Advisor will not just show you bars and clubs close to you, but also give detailed descriptions, photos, reviews and even ratings of every option. And since it’s your own personal account, you can add cool spots to your favorites list, save drink recipes, and create events to invite your friends to that new club in the area. If you’re looking for a fun night out this Friday, this app should be your first stop.
