Top 5 Things You Need At Lightning In A Bottle (LIB) Music Festival

I went to Lightning in a Bottle and I will never be the same.

I went to Lightning in a Bottle and I will never be the same. I’m not sure if it was the shock of 95 degrees during the day, and 45 at night, or the outdoor showers, or the waves of dust I inhaled… but I am still thinking about that mind blowing set that Hernan Cattaneo played Saturday night.

The festival is 5 days long, I went with a company called Immordl Coffee, and I think I’m addicted to caffeine now (it’s that good). What I loved about the festival was that it was literally the opposite of its pretentiously annoying sister Coachella.  No one cared what you wore (although there were a lot of weird festival costumes there, like, a lot), everyone greeted you with a genuine smile and hug, and people were actually there for the music and the experience. The vibe was definitely on a higher level. Now of course, there were many people there ‘partying’ but no one was messy, or obnoxious. Everyone was respectful, and even cleaned up after the DJ set’s ended. I mean, it was kind of a buzz kill when they started playing the Barney clean up song, but it was surprisingly effective because everyone started picking up garbage!  The dance floor was left spotless. I barely saw any garbage the entire time I was there, unlike the sea of garbage you see at Coachella and other music festivals.

This year the lake was full of water, a first in all the years of the festival. People were loving it. I put on my (light) festival outfit from AyA by DK, and had night after night of amazing memories. Each night better than the last. I’m pretty positive Saturday night was my favorite set of the year, thank you Hernan.

Although I myself couldn’t understand why people would want to camp in the freezing cold, and wait an hour for a $7 outdoor shower, or use porta potties for 5 days (seriously, gross), I did understand that this festival was something special. They had so much more than music. There was meditations, sound baths, yoga, seminars, educational talks, art installations, crafts for kids (yes, there were kids there), shopping, lots of good food, and probably more things I missed!  If I had an RV next year, I would do it again, but only in an RV. Just sayin’. Thanks LIB for an experience I will never forget, because 4 days later, my entire body is still sore.
