Last year, Irish actor Michael Fassbender bought a home on the hilltop of Alfama in Lisbon.
According to Home and Property, the Steve Jobs actor shelled out £1.7 million for the gorgeous estate that includes a private garden terrace, a swimming pool. Situated on one of the best streets in Portugal, the retreat is part of a complex of more than 20 new homes that overlooks the Tagus River.
Alfama has long been known for its charming alleys and historical backdrop as the birth of Lisbon. Not only is the neighborhood the oldest part of Portugal’s capital, it’s also where the music style fado began.
One day of strolling through Alfama, you won’t be surprised why Fassbender decided to call it a home away from home.
