Founder of New York’s newest emerging swim line Nager, Nic Hyl knows where to go.

Nic Hyl is the founder and creative director of New York’s newest emerging swim line, Nager (pronounced Na-jay) By Nic Hyl. Nic is a lover of travel, fitness and of course fashion. This Florida girl turned New Yorker only recently emerged on the fashion scene and is making big waves in the world of swimwear. A recent recipient of the Small Business Administration’s Home Based Business Champion of the Year award, Nic also proves she’s got a great business sense as well.
Living and working in the city of New York inspires Nic constantly. “I love the creative freedom that people take with their look,” Nic states when talking about why she loves being a New York-based designer. “People feel confident enough to express themselves, and I love the result of that confidence. It pushes the envelope and gets my imagination running. Combine that with the architectural beauty of the city, and it’s a visual playground for any designer.”
Nic’s swimwear can be purchased online at Jetset Times SHOP, Nager By Nic Hyl, and in person at 70 N. 7th St. in Brooklyn, NY.
Dani’s House of Pizza
81-28 Lefferts Blvd, Queens, NY 11415 (map, website)

Dani’s House of Pizza is the best pizza in New York! They often have a line that runs down the block from their tiny Forest Hill’s pizzeria at 1:30 a.m. in the morning. It’s a neighborhood pizza place, and getting there is off of the beaten tourist path. But if you love pizza, Danny’s is definitely worth the trip to Queens! They have a full menu with other traditional Italian meals, but I love their pizza so much, that I haven’t been able to try anything else yet.
Meskerem Ethiopian Cuisine
124 Macdougal St, New York, NY 10012 (map, website)

The food at Meskerem Ethiopian Cuisine is delicious! I used to meet my friend here all the time to catch up and to get my fix of Ethiopian food. It has amazing meat and vegetarian stews that you eat with your hands using a spongy injera bread. It’s a tiny restaurant that gets packed very quickly, so arrive early to get a seat.
Ravagh Persian Grill
1135 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10065 (map, website)

A few years ago when my Iranian friends were in town, they took us here for Persian food. I’ve been going back to Ravagh Persian Grill ever since! The kabobs and stews are seasoned so beautifully and grilled to perfection. I was just there last week, introducing some other friends to it for the first time, and I still love it years later as much as I did the first time I visited.
Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company
286 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001 (map, website)

No trip to New York is complete without a bagel from Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company. I love Brooklyn Bagel because they boil all of their own bagels every morning and have a ton of original flavors, plus so many different cream cheeses to choose from. There is literally a bagel for everyone! They even make sandwiches out of the bagels, and they also have delicious soups. You seriously can’t go wrong with this place!
